Katie Chiaverini

Katie Chiaverini was born and raised in the state of Kansas, USA. As a young girl, she always had dreams of traveling the world, learning about different cultures and languages, and helping young people and their communities grow and develop along the way. After graduating from high school, Katie moved on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Education from New Mexico State University and then her Master’s Degree from the University of Missouri in Human Development and Family Studies with a focus on Youth Development. Katie then worked with public and private schools and community programs in three different states of the USA and in six different countries.

Anyone who knows Katie would say she is a hard worker, tenacious, and a quick learner. She believes that people should never stop learning and growing which aligns exactly with the Mangrove Society view – lifelong learners enhance communities with their desire to learn and share what they have learned with others. Her two spirited children, who live in Costa Rica with her, share this lust for knowledge and they enjoy the beautiful nature all around them, which inspires the entire family to look for a more sustainable way of life for their own community and the larger global community.

Program Coordinator

Katie has the experience and technical training in her Master’s program which focused on community engagement and development, grant writing processes, and program development from needs assessment to grant writing, then on to grant management and finally project evaluation in both the educational and community sectors. Katie is very excited to be making use of all her skills, education, training, and experiences to develop this project and see it succeed.
